Employment: Without employment and livable wages, very little can be achieved at all. There is often a lot of stress on those who are struggling financially and this stress NPU 2
People have to work to provide for themselves, those that do struggle with substance abuse need access to treatment so they can rejoin the workforce and become NPU 6
Alternative transportation (or lack thereof) is a major cause of preventable illnesses (e.g., obesity, diabetes, heart disease). It also associated with lack of ability to move up the social ladder. NPU 6
Because they could help in preventing serious illness from taking over! NPU 4
Youth engagement miminizes crime and elevates goals and accountability. Education prevents substance abuse deaths and access to health insurance is a ridiculous NPU 6
Employment because without access to paying for a certain lifestyle we can’t become healthier / Access to physical activity because staying active is important. / And health education because it’s so easy to fall off the path. NPU 6
Because poor people have less options and often make poor decisions. Give the money and a way to support themselves and that changes. / / NPU 7
They are all linked together. Systemic racism has drained wealth, resources, and services, leaving us with underfunded schools full of stressed children. Homes lose value and we cannot afford to maintain them or our public assets. Without wealth or political influence, harmful conditions are dumped on us for other people's benefit - highways speed between our neighborhoods so people who can afford cars can get to work faster, while our neighbors can barely get across the street safely to catch a bus or train.
