The goal of the Multidisciplinary Training and Career Development core is to build upon existing mechanisms to expand the research training forums in which investigators from various disciplines can exchange different scientific perspectives.
*The lack of racial/ethnic diversity in the biomedical workforce is a major impediment to this nation's capacity to remain preeminent in science. It is recognized that MSM's most precious asset for augmenting our research capacity in clinical/translational science is based on the talent and commitment of our students and faculty to lifelong learning and innovation. Over the past decade, MSM has established a nationally recognized track record of success in training minority investigators through its pipeline programs beginning at the middle school level and extending to the undergraduate level as well as our graduate programs.
*The R-CENTER Multidisciplinary Mentored Research Training and Career Development Program (MiDr¬CAREER) program provides an opportunity for MSM to establish a more systematic and coherent approach to promoting career development by effective mentorship and research training of emerging investigators.
