| I think race plays is the primary factor. Many of these neighborhoods were undervalued because of the proximity to manufacturing and railroads and thus populated by mainly PoC for the better part of the 20th century. There has been little investment in these neighborhoods and it follows that quality parks and groceries would not operate in an area where they are not incentivized to do so. Money is also an important factor in access to healthcare as well as preventitive measures like a well balanced diet or the leisure to exercise. It's no secret that these neighborhoods are overwhelmingly poor and black wish unfortunately puts people at the intersection of a HOST of medical problems. | NPU 2 |
