Title: Is oral monovalent rotavirus vaccine “take” in US infants dependent upon FUT2 and HBGA status?
Principal Investigator: IMMERGLUCK, LILLY MD
Coordinator: LAGHAIE, ELHAM MS
Summary
OBJECTIVE: To determine if vaccine-take of the human attenuated monovalent G1P[8] rotavirus vaccine (Rotarix, GSK, Rixensart, Belgium, Abbreviation RV1) in non-Hispanic US infants is associated with the secretor phenotype and genotype status of the infants.

"Surveillance of Community-Associated MRSA and Treatment Outcomes of Skin & Soft Tissue
Infections in the Ambulatory Setting"
(short name: ED study)
This is a prospective surveillance study of children who access emergency services of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). The objective is to conduct surveillance for community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) and determine specific strains, specifically USA300, tied to CA-MRSA.

Summary
What role do certain Immune Factors have on Recurrent MRSA Infections in Children?
(short name: Immune study)
There are currently gaps in scientific knowledge regarding why some children develop recurrent skin/soft tissue infections due to community-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) while others do not. The focus of this proposal is to observe very specific host immune factors thought to be associated with defense mechanisms against S. aureus and to concurrently look for virulent factors which are strain specific.
Microbiome

Summary
Gut Microbiome Profiles of Obese Vs Lean Children
(short name: Microbiome)
The purpose of this study is to look at the differences in the bacteria that live in the gut of children of different weights to evaluate whether these gut bacteria play a role in a child’s overall health and weight.
