HIV is an independentrisk factorforPulmonaryArterialHypertension (PAH)and the prevalence of PAH is significantly higheramong persons infected with HIV than in the general population.The main objective of this study is to determine the prevalence of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) among HIV-infected individuals in an underserved, urban, predominantly African-American population. We will recruit persons who have HIV age eighteen years and older, particularly those who experience shortness of breath. We exclude participants with lung infection, COPD (emphysema, chronic bronchitis) or left heart failure.
